Episode 16: The Torchlight Descents

The Torchlight Descents

As far back as the 60s, the Swiss Ski School made a habit of sharing a fondue with its customers for an authentic evening in Bretaye.

These “Clair de Lune” evenings were renowned for their joyful atmosphere. Soon came the famous “picoulet” dance, accompanied by the ski teachers’ song. Torches are then carried down to Villars, while the less courageous watch the procession from the train.

Nowadays, these evenings are still organized during the month of February, and it often happens that private companies commission the Swiss Ski School to organize such events. At Christmas, torchlight descents with the mascot “Snowli” are offered for the children.

See you on Friday at 7.15pm for the train to the mountain mansion! Disembarkation around 10:15pm! Information and registration at the Ski School’s office!
