On the ski slopes, snowboarding has gone from being an unpopular guest to an essential snow sport in just 20 years.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29578\" src=\"https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-1024x739.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-1024x739.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-768x554.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-1536x1108.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/ESS-90-00-32-2048x1477.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the development of airlines and the proliferation of charter flights, ski resorts are increasingly competing with seaside destinations. In Villars, an increasing number of people are acquiring a second home. Many international guests arrive at the resort, with a notable increase in English, Dutch, and Italian clientele.<\/p>\n<p>Concerning the ski slopes, the connections with Gryon and Les Diablerets are improved with the replacement of the Gryonne drag lift, the construction of the chairlift \u201cSodoleuvre-La Croix des Chaux,\u201d and that of \u201cConche-Perche.\u201d The Lac Noir and Grand Chamossaire chairlifts are also being replaced by two latest-generation installations.<\/p>\n<p>Michel Martin takes over the management of the Swiss Ski School Villars in 1989. At his arrival, Michel is confronted with one of the least snowy seasons of the century: at Christmas, only the Roc d&#8217;Orsay ski lift was in operation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-29579\" src=\"https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-1024x692.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-1024x692.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-768x519.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-1536x1038.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ess-villars.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/groupe-2048x1384.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was at this time that Michel Martin created the Pre-OJs to compensate for the closure of \u201cMlle Georgette&#8217;s nest\u201d.
